Social Security Act 2018

Enforcement: sanctions and offences - Sanctions for breach of obligations other than young person or young parent obligations - Hierarchy of sanctions

238: Sanction for third failure: cancellation of main benefit

You could also call this:

“What happens if you don't follow the rules three times: Your main benefit stops for 13 weeks”

If you fail to meet certain requirements for a third time, the government will stop your main benefit payment. This is called cancellation. When this happens, you cannot get any main benefit for 13 weeks from the day it was cancelled. If you want to get a main benefit again after those 13 weeks, you need to apply for it again. You will also need to show that you qualify for it. There are some rules that might change how this works, which you can find in other parts of the law.
