Social Security Act 2018

Reviews and appeals - Appeals to appeal authority - Appeal authority

402: Act does not affect appeals to authority under other enactments

You could also call this:

“Other laws still let you appeal, even with this Act in place”

This law says that you can still appeal to the appeal authority under other laws, even if this Act (Social Security Act 2018) exists. This means that the Social Security Act doesn’t stop you from making appeals that are allowed by other laws.

For example, you can still make appeals under section 133 of the Public and Community Housing Management Act 1992. You can also make appeals that are allowed by rules made under section 102(1)(i) of the Pae Ora (Healthy Futures) Act 2022.

These are just examples, and there might be other laws that allow you to appeal to the appeal authority too. This law makes sure that those other appeal rights are still valid and aren’t affected by the Social Security Act.
