Social Security Act 2018

Enforcement: sanctions and offences - Sanctions for breach of obligations other than young person or young parent obligations - Procedure for imposing sanction

256: When reduction, suspension, or cancellation of benefit takes effect

You could also call this:

“When MSD changes your benefit, you get 5 working days' notice”

When MSD decides to reduce, suspend, or cancel your benefit because of a sanction, they can’t do it right away. They have to give you a notice first. This notice tells you about the decision and gives you 5 working days before the change happens. During these 5 days, your benefit stays the same. The change to your benefit only starts after these 5 working days are over. This gives you some time to understand what’s happening and maybe do something about it if you need to.
