342: Money management for certain payments to young people: exception if young person meets prescribed criteria for managing own payments

You could also call this:

“Young people can manage their own payments if they follow special rules”

This law is about how some young people can manage their own money from certain payments. If you’re a young person, you might be able to manage your own payments if you meet special rules. These rules are set out in other laws.

If you meet these rules, the government agency called MSD (Ministry of Social Development) can decide to let you manage your own payments. This means they can pay the money directly to you or to your account.

You can keep managing your own money until you get into trouble with the rules. If you break the rules, you might get a punishment called a sanction. There are different types of sanctions listed in other parts of the law.

Remember, this only applies to certain types of payments. The law mentions these specific payments in another section.
