Assistance - Child disability allowance

80: Child disability allowance: MSD may require medical certificate

You could also call this:

“MSD may ask for a doctor's note when you apply for money to help with your child's disability”

When you apply for a child disability allowance, the Ministry of Social Development (MSD) might ask you to provide a medical certificate. This certificate needs to come from a doctor or other approved health professional. They will need to say whether they think your child has a serious disability. The definition of a serious disability is explained in section 79 of the law. The MSD wants this certificate to help them decide if your child qualifies for the allowance.
