283: Effect of cancellation of young parent payment on accommodation supplement or temporary additional support

You could also call this:

“What happens to your housing help when your young parent money stops”

If you get a young parent payment and it gets cancelled, it can affect your accommodation supplement or temporary additional support. Here’s what you need to know:

If you’re a single parent, don’t worry. The cancellation won’t change your accommodation supplement or temporary additional support.

If you have a partner and only your payment is cancelled, things change a bit. Your accommodation supplement or temporary additional support will be cut in half. The half that you don’t get will go to your partner instead. Your partner’s supplement or support will also be reduced by half.

If both you and your partner have your young parent payments cancelled, you’ll each only get half of the accommodation supplement or temporary additional support you would normally receive.

Remember, these rules only apply when your young parent payment is cancelled for specific reasons mentioned in section 281(2) of the law.
