Illustration for Telecommunications Act 2001

The Commission has to run a scoping workshop when looking at a special service. You can think of a scoping workshop like a meeting where the Commission gets information to help them decide things. The Commission uses this information to figure out how long an access provider has to submit a proposal, as outlined in section 30F, and what other requirements they need to follow, as outlined in section 30F(2).

The scoping workshop must be open to all parties involved in the decision. The Commission decides how and when to run the workshop. They can choose an employee or agent to run it in a way that works for them.

The Commission can also run workshops on other topics, and this section does not affect what they can discuss in those workshops. This means the Commission has the freedom to run different types of workshops as they see fit. You can still learn more about how the Commission makes decisions, but this section is just about scoping workshops.
