The Commission has to check which areas have a specified fibre service available to people like you. They must do this before 1 January 2020 and at least once a year after that. The Commission will then tell everyone which areas have this service by making a public announcement. If the Commission decides an area has a specified fibre service, they will make a public notice to say so. This notice will say when the area will be known as a specified fibre area, and this date cannot be before 1 January 2020. The notice can describe the area in different ways, such as using a map or a written description. The Commission must keep a list of all specified fibre areas on their website for you to see. A specified fibre service is a type of service that uses fibre to connect people, and it can be provided in two different ways, including by a regulated fibre service provider over fibre media. You can find more information about related parties in section 69U.
