Illustration for Telecommunications Act 2001

You can put telephone cabinets on a road if you are a network operator. You must tell the local authority and other people who might be affected by the work. You must also follow any conditions they give you and not block the traffic. You need to say where you want to put the cabinet and why. You must give this information when you tell the local authority and other people. The local authority is the group of people in charge of the road. You can find out what a utility operator is by looking at section 4 of the Utilities Access Act 2010. This will help you understand who to tell when you want to put a telephone cabinet on a road.
