When you look at the law about marine pollution, you see that some parts will start on a date chosen by the Governor-General. The Governor-General can choose different dates for different parts of the law. You can find out when these parts of the law start by looking at an Order in Council. An Order in Council is a type of secondary legislation, which you can learn more about in Part 3 of the Legislation Act 2019. The law says that the Governor-General can make these Orders in Council for different provisions and purposes. This means you will have to wait until the Governor-General chooses a date for these parts of the law to start.
