Illustration for Maritime Transport Act 1994

The Governor-General can make rules to protect the marine environment. You need to know that the Minister recommends these rules. The Governor-General makes these rules by Order in Council. The Governor-General's rules are secondary legislation, which means they are laws made under another law, and you can find out more about this in Part 3 of the Legislation Act 2019. The Governor-General and the Minister can both change or cancel each other's marine protection rules.
