The Minister can also tell these agencies to co-ordinate or participate in search and rescue operations. The Minister has the power to direct agencies to perform search and rescue operations. You can find more information about these operations in section 199(1)(a). The Minister can also tell agencies to use certain powers. The Minister's directions can include exercising powers under section 199(1)(b) and (c) and (2). This means the Minister has control over what the agencies do during search and rescue operations. The agencies must follow the Minister's directions.
