The Director can choose someone to help collect maritime levies. You might see the chief executive of the New Zealand Customs Service get this job. The Director can also pick someone else to be their agent.

The Director can make a deal with their agent about how they get paid. They can pay their agent a fee to collect the levies. Their agent can also keep some of the levies they collect as a fee. The Director can choose to do one of these options or both.
