257ARegulation under this Part and Exclusive Economic Zone and Continental Shelf (Environmental Effects) Act 2012 of dumping
This section describes how the dumping of waste or other matter is regulated under this Part and the Exclusive Economic Zone and Continental Shelf (Environmental Effects) Act 2012, but it does not affect the interpretation or the application of this Part or that enactment.
This Part regulates the dumping of waste or other matter into the waters beyond the continental shelf.
In relation to the exclusive economic zone and the continental shelf, the Exclusive Economic Zone and Continental Shelf (Environmental Effects) Act 2012—
- prohibits—
- the dumping of radioactive waste or other radioactive matter:
- the dumping of toxic or hazardous waste:
- the incineration of waste or other matter at sea; and
- the dumping of radioactive waste or other radioactive matter:
- regulates—
- the disposal of human remains other than ashes:
- the dumping of waste or other matter (other than waste or other matter described in paragraph (a)).
- the disposal of human remains other than ashes:
