Maritime Transport Act 1994

Salvage

217: Salvage claims against the Crown

You could also call this:

"Claiming a reward for helping a government ship in trouble"

If you are helping a New Zealand warship or a ship owned by the government, you can make a salvage claim. The rules for making a salvage claim are the same as if you were helping a private ship. This is because the Maritime Transport Act says the rules in this part of the Act apply to government ships, as stated in the Crown Proceedings Act 1950, but only if that Act allows it.
