You are the master of a pleasure craft. You want to leave a New Zealand port for overseas. You must tell the Director in writing about your trip and who is in charge. The Director must be happy that your craft is safe and has the right equipment and crew. You must also follow the maritime rules. If you do not do these things, you will not get a clearance certificate to leave under the Customs and Excise Act 2018. This means you cannot leave a New Zealand port for overseas without meeting these requirements.
