Maritime Transport Act 1994

Maritime New Zealand - General provisions

443: Delegation of Director’s functions or powers to employees of Authority

You could also call this:

"The Director can pass on some jobs or powers to Authority staff."

Illustration for Maritime Transport Act 1994

The Director can give some of their jobs or powers to Authority employees. You need to know the Director can do this for some jobs or all jobs. The Director can give jobs to a specific employee or a group of employees. The Director cannot give the power to delegate jobs to someone else. There are some jobs the Director cannot give to employees, like revoking a maritime document. You can read about these jobs in section 44 and section 273. Some rules from the Crown Entities Act 2004 also apply to the Director. You can read about these rules in sections 73(4) and 74 to 76. The Director can give jobs to a specific employee or a group of employees. When the Director gives a job to an employee, it stays with that job until it is taken away. This means that even if the employee leaves their job, the job they were given stays with the next person who does that job. The Director can give jobs to the person who holds a specific office, like a manager.
