The Authority will set up a Maritime Registry. You can think of it as a place where important documents are kept. The Registry will keep copies of documents like maritime documents and marine protection documents issued by the Director. It will also keep records of accidents and incidents reported under section 31, and other important information. The Registry will keep a list of people who have applied for or currently hold maritime documents or marine protection documents. It will also have a list of conventions and the countries that are part of them. You can inspect the documents at the Registry for free, but this is subject to the Official Information Act 1982 and the Privacy Act 2020. The Authority must make the documents available according to the Official Information Act 1982. However, there are some limits to this, as stated in the Privacy Act 2020. This means that some information might not be available to the public.
