If you break the law under section 404 of the Maritime Transport Act, you can go to prison for up to 3 months or get a fine of up to $2,000 if you are an individual. If you are a company, you can get a fine of up to $10,000. If you break the law under section 405, you can get a fine of up to $5,000 if you are an individual, or up to $30,000 if you are a company. 407Penalties

  1. Every person who commits an offence against section 404 is liable on conviction,—

  2. in the case of an individual, to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 3 months or to a fine not exceeding $2,000:
    1. in the case of a body corporate, to a fine not exceeding $10,000.

      1. Every person who commits an offence against section 405 is liable on conviction,—

      2. in the case of an individual, to a fine not exceeding $5,000:
        1. in the case of a body corporate, to a fine not exceeding $30,000.

          1. Every person who commits an offence against section 406 is liable on conviction,—

          2. in the case of an individual, to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 12 months or to a fine not exceeding $10,000:
            1. in the case of a body corporate, to a fine not exceeding $50,000.
