You are reading about the Maritime Transport Act 1994. When you see 'LLMC Convention', it means the Convention on the Limitation of Liability for Maritime Claims done at London on 19 November 1976. You can find a copy of this in Schedule 8. You will also see 'LLMC Protocol', which means the Protocol of 1996 to amend the LLMC Convention done at London on 2 May 1996. A copy of this is in Schedule 9. When the LLMC Convention and LLMC Protocol talk about a 'ship' or 'seagoing ship', they mean any type of vessel used for navigation. This includes barges and vessels that are not yet finished being built, but will be used as a ship. It also includes ships used by the New Zealand Defence Force.
