You have a committee called the Oil Pollution Advisory Committee. It gives advice to the Authority on things like the New Zealand Marine Oil Spill Response Strategy and the use of the New Zealand Oil Pollution Fund. The Minister appoints people to this committee. The Minister chooses who is on the committee, including a chairperson. When choosing members, the Minister thinks about whether the committee should have people who know about the shipping industry, the oil and gas industry, and other related areas. The committee can decide how it wants to work, as long as it follows any directions from the Minister. The Minister decides the terms and conditions for committee members, including what they get paid for travel. This money comes from the New Zealand Oil Pollution Fund. The committee advises the Authority on oil pollution levies imposed under Part 24, and on other matters related to marine oil spills that the Minister or Director specifies.
