Maritime Transport Act 1994

Financing plans and responses to protect the marine environment from marine oil spills - Oil pollution levies

336: Incurring of levies

You could also call this:

"When ships come to New Zealand, they must pay a special oil pollution fee."

When a ship has to pay an oil pollution levy, you have to pay it when the ship first comes into a New Zealand port. This is usually at the start of the year the levy is for. If the levy is not for a whole year, you pay it when the ship comes into a New Zealand port. You pay the levy for a contributing oil site or contributing oil at the time stated in the levy order for that site or oil. The levy order says when you have to pay the levy for a contributing oil site or contributing oil, and you must pay it at that time.
