When you register as an importer, your registration starts on the date you register and lasts until a certain date. This date is either 12 months after you registered or a later date that the chief executive tells you in writing. You get this written notice from the chief executive.

Your registration keeps going until this date, unless it is cancelled under section 127 or you surrender it under section 130. If either of these things happens, your registration ends. The chief executive or you can make this decision.

You can renew your registration for more time by following the rules in Part 2 of Schedule 4. This means you can keep being a registered importer for longer. You need to follow these rules to renew your registration.
