Food Act 2014

Provisions relating to recognition, territorial authorities, administration, and enforcement - Territorial authorities - National outcomes for territorial authorities

175: Minister may issue national outcomes for territorial authorities

You could also call this:

"The Minister can set goals for local councils to follow under the Food Act 2014."

The Minister can issue national outcomes for territorial authorities, which are like goals for them to achieve. You can think of these outcomes as targets for territorial authorities to meet when they are doing their jobs under the Food Act 2014. The Minister can also change or cancel these national outcomes.

The Minister must talk to the Minister of Local Government before issuing, changing, or cancelling a national outcome. The Minister must also make sure that they have followed the rules for consulting with people, as set out in section 379, before making any decisions about national outcomes. This is to ensure that everyone affected has a say.

If the Minister issues, changes, or cancels a national outcome, they must let every territorial authority know as soon as possible. They must also publish this information in the Gazette, which is like a official newspaper where important government announcements are made.
