When you are a recognised agency, you are accountable to the chief executive when you carry out your specified functions and activities for a food business. You do this to make sure the food business is following the rules. The chief executive is in charge of making sure everything runs smoothly.

When you are a recognised person, you are also accountable to the chief executive when you carry out your specified functions and activities for a food business. This means you have to report to the chief executive and make sure you are doing your job correctly.

The rules about being a recognised agency or person were updated by the Food Safety Law Reform Act 2018.
