When the chief executive recognises an agency, a person, or a group of people, they must do a few things as soon as possible. They must add the name of the recognised agency or person to a public register, or describe the group so it can be easily identified. They must also give the agency or person a notice of recognition, which is a formal document saying they are recognised.

The notice of recognition must say what the agency or person is allowed to do, and for how long they are recognised. It must also say if there are any conditions they must follow, and if some people are not included in the recognised group. The chief executive must follow the rules in section 168 to notify a group of people that they are recognised.

If the chief executive recognises a group of people, they must notify the group and give the person who applied for recognition written notice. The notice of recognition must include information about the conditions of recognition, which are imposed under section 147(1), and the duration of the recognition, which is decided under section 150.
