Food Act 2014

Provisions relating to recognition, territorial authorities, administration, and enforcement - Territorial authorities - Non-performance by territorial authority

196: Duration of appointment

You could also call this:

"How long you keep a special food safety job"

When you are appointed to a role under section 193 of the Food Act 2014, the Minister decides how long you will be in that role. The Minister can choose to renew your appointment if they want to. You will keep your role until the Minister decides what to do next.

The Minister looks at evidence to decide whether to renew your appointment or give the role to someone new. They think about whether the territorial authority can do its job under the Food Act 2014. If the Minister thinks the territorial authority is capable, they tell the authority to start doing its job again.
