When you use a Joint Border Management System to give the Ministry information about things coming into New Zealand, you must do it in a certain way. You have to supply the information in a form and manner that is approved by the chief executive. This approved form and manner is for using the Joint Border Management System and is approved in writing.

The approved way of giving information must be available to the public on a website that is free to access. It can also be set out in rules under section 325 of the Customs and Excise Act 2018. You can find out what "border information" and "Joint Border Management System" mean by looking at section 41A(1) of the Biosecurity Act 1993.

When you are giving the Ministry information, you have to follow the rules about what to do. The Ministry is a group of people who help keep New Zealand safe, and you can find out more about what they do by looking at section 41A(1) of the Biosecurity Act 1993 and section 8(1) of the Food Act 2014. You must give them the information in the right way, so they can use it to help keep New Zealand safe.
