If your food business registration is cancelled, the registration authority can tell you what to do. They can say you must not sell food that was made or handled under the cancelled registration. They can also tell you to take action to deal with the food, or things related to the food, or the way the food business operates. The authority can use powers given to them under section 285 to make these decisions.

When the registration authority is a local council, they have the same powers as the chief executive, as stated in section 285. This means they can make decisions about your food business if your registration is cancelled.

If your registration is cancelled, it does not stop the registration authority from taking other actions against you under the Food Act 2014.
