Illustration for Food Act 2014

When you use an automated electronic system to do something allowed or required by the Food Act 2014, it is treated as if you did it properly. You are considered to have done the action correctly if the system does it, and it is not invalid just because a system did it. The system's action must follow the rules in the Act.

If another law allows or requires you to do something and you use an automated electronic system, the action is treated as if you did it properly if it follows the rules in that law. The action is not invalid just because the system did it, as long as it follows the rules. You can find more information about who is responsible in section 374(3).

If the system makes a mistake that is obvious, the person responsible can still do the action. This person is referred to in section 374(3). They can fix the mistake made by the system.
