Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012

Sale and supply of alcohol generally - Licensing generally, requirements on licensees, and conditions - Endorsed licences for BYO restaurants, auctioneers, and caterers

37: On-licences for BYO restaurants

You could also call this:

"Rules for restaurants that let customers bring their own alcohol"

When you apply for an on-licence for a restaurant, you can ask for it to be endorsed for BYO. The licensing authority will endorse it if you asked for the endorsement and they are satisfied you run a restaurant business on the premises. They make this decision when directing that the on-licence should be issued.

You can get an on-licence endorsed for BYO subject to certain conditions. These conditions might include appointing one or more managers as required by this Part. They might also include having a manager on duty on specific days and times.

If you want to compare this to other legislation, you can look at s 28 for more information. You can find this by following the link to the relevant act. This will help you understand the rules around on-licences for BYO restaurants.
