Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012

Sale and supply of alcohol generally - Licensing bodies - General provisions relating to licensing authority and licensing committees

207: Evidence in proceedings before licensing authority or licensing committee

You could also call this:

"What evidence can be used when making decisions about alcohol licences?"

When you are in a meeting with a licensing authority or licensing committee, they can use any information that helps them make a decision. This information can be a statement, document, or anything else that is useful, even if it would not be allowed in a court of law. The licensing authority or committee can use this information to help them deal with the matter in front of them.

The licensing authority or committee must also follow the rules in the Evidence Act 2006, which is a law that says how evidence should be used. This law applies to the authority or committee and its members, and to all their meetings, in the same way as it would to a court. However, the authority or committee can still use any information that helps them make a decision, as long as it is allowed under section 203A(2)(b) and (c).

207Evidence in proceedings before licensing authority or licensing committee
