Sale and supply of alcohol generally - Licensing bodies - District licensing committees

187: Functions of licensing committees

You could also call this:

"What jobs do licensing committees do to help control alcohol sales?"

A licensing committee has several jobs. You will see them consider and decide on applications for licences and manager's certificates. They also consider and decide on applications to renew these licences and certificates, and to carry on the sale and supply of alcohol under section 136.

They consider and decide on applications to change, suspend, or cancel special licences. They also consider and decide on applications to change other types of licences, unless the application is made under section 280.

The committee can refer applications to the licensing authority if the chairperson says it is okay. They conduct inquiries and make reports as required by the licensing authority under section 175, and they do other jobs given to them by this Act or other laws.
