The law is changing the Children, Young Persons, and Their Families Act 1989. You can read about this act on the New Zealand legislation website. This change affects what the Youth Court can do.

The Youth Court's job is being updated to include new types of offences, such as breaking rules about selling or supplying alcohol, as outlined in the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012. You can also break rules from the Summary Offences Act 1981 or section 239A of the Local Government Act 2002.

These changes are being made to sections 272(3) and 272(5) of the Children, Young Persons, and Their Families Act 1989, which you can find on the New Zealand legislation website.
