Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012

Sale and supply of alcohol generally - Licensing generally, requirements on licensees, and conditions - Other restrictions and requirements

62A: Snack food to be available when samples sold from winery cellar doors

You could also call this:

“Winery cellar doors must offer snack food when selling wine samples to customers.”

When you sell grape wine samples at a winery cellar door, you must have snack food available. You need to sell this snack food at reasonable prices and make sure people can get it quickly after they order it. The type of grape wine and snack food is defined in the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012, specifically in section 58(3) for grape wine and section 33(1) for snack food.

You must do this whenever the winery cellar door is open and you are selling grape wine samples. This means you have to make sure snack food is available all the time when people can buy and drink grape wine samples at the winery cellar door. The snack food must be sold at prices that are fair and people must be able to get it soon after they order.

If you have a winery cellar door and an off-licence to sell grape wine, these rules apply to you. You have to follow these rules when you sell grape wine samples for people to drink at the winery cellar door. This is part of the rules for selling alcohol in New Zealand.
