Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012

Sale and supply of alcohol generally - Licensing generally, requirements on licensees, and conditions - Restrictions relating to trading hours

47: Sale and supply on Anzac Day morning, Good Friday, Easter Sunday, and Christmas Day restricted: on-licences

You could also call this:

“No alcohol sales on some public holidays and restricted sales on Anzac Day morning.”

If you have a licence to sell alcohol, you must not sell or supply it on certain days. These days are Good Friday, Easter Sunday, and Christmas Day. You also cannot sell or supply alcohol before 1 pm on Anzac Day, unless you have a special licence or the buyer is someone who is staying on your premises or is there to eat a meal.

You can sell alcohol to people who are staying on your premises, like guests or employees. You can also sell alcohol to people who are there to eat a meal, but only if they are eating within an hour of arriving or leaving.

There is another law that affects this rule, which is section 173 of the Gambling Act 2003.
