Licensing trusts, community trusts, and other matters - Community trusts - Trustees

374: Governor-General may appoint trustees to make up required number

You could also call this:

"The Governor-General can choose extra trustees if not enough people are elected."

The Governor-General can appoint trustees to a community trust if not enough are elected. You might wonder what happens if no one is elected or not enough people are elected to be trustees. The Governor-General can choose people to be trustees to make sure there are enough.

If the Governor-General appoints someone to be a trustee, that person gets to be a trustee just like they were elected. This is explained in more detail in the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 related section, but for now, you just need to know that the Governor-General has this power. The person appointed by the Governor-General holds office as if they were elected.
