Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012

Sale and supply of alcohol generally - Local alcohol policies

83: Territorial authority may recommence development of local alcohol policy

You could also call this:

"Councils can restart making alcohol rules for their area if they stopped working on them."

If you are part of a territorial authority, you can start working on a local alcohol policy again if you stopped developing it. You must talk to people in your community about the policy as if you were making a new one, unless you already talked to them before you stopped working on it. You can skip talking to them again if you started working on the policy again within six years of finishing the talks.

If you want to know more about the rules for developing a local alcohol policy, you can look at the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012. You can also check the changes made to this rule by the Sale and Supply of Alcohol (Community Participation) Amendment Act 2023. This rule was updated on 31 August 2023.
