Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012

Sale and supply of alcohol generally - Management of licensed premises - Miscellaneous provisions

230: Acting manager

You could also call this:

"Temporarily replacing a manager of a liquor licence"

If you are a licensee, you can appoint an acting manager when your manager is ill or away. You can do this for up to 3 weeks at a time. You can also appoint an acting manager so your manager can have a holiday, but this can only be for up to 6 weeks in a 12-month period. When you appoint an acting manager, they are treated as if they have a manager's certificate, even if they do not actually have one. They do not need to apply for a manager's certificate while they are acting as the manager, as explained in the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012, which you can find on the New Zealand legislation website.
