Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012

Sale and supply of alcohol generally - Licensing bodies - Alcohol Regulatory and Licensing Authority

179: Membership of licensing authority

You could also call this:

"Who can be on the group that makes alcohol licensing decisions"

The licensing authority is made up of members appointed by the Governor-General. You might see up to 3 District Court Judges as members, and there can be other members too. The Governor-General chooses these members based on a recommendation from the Minister.

When you are appointed to the licensing authority, it does not mean you are employed by the government just because of that appointment. This is explained in the Public Service Act 2020.

You need to understand that being part of the licensing authority is different from being employed by the government under the Public Service Act 2020.
