317: Election of president of trust

You could also call this:

"Choosing the leader of a licensing trust"

When a licensing trust has its first meeting after members are elected, you have to choose one of the members to be the president of the trust. The meeting to choose the president is led by a special person, who is either chosen by the government when the trust is first set up, or by the trust's secretary in other cases. You make this choice at the start of the trust's work.

If you cannot decide who should be president because two people get the same number of votes, the trust members decide how the candidates should draw lots to make the choice. The person who is chosen as president starts work straight away and keeps being president until someone else is chosen to take their place. The president can also stand for election again to keep being president, see the related section for more details about this. You can find more information about how this works in the rules that govern the trust.
