Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012

Sale and supply of alcohol generally - Licensing process: on-licences, off-licences, and club licences - Applications for licences

119: Restricted and supervised areas

You could also call this:

"Areas where kids are not allowed or need a parent to enter when alcohol is sold"

When you apply for a licence to sell alcohol at a hotel or tavern, the licensing authority must decide on restricted and supervised areas. They have to choose one of the options, such as designating the whole premises or just a part of it as an area where minors are not allowed. You might see signs that say minors are not allowed in certain areas, or that they can only enter if they are with a parent or guardian.

The licensing authority can also make these decisions for other types of premises, but they do not have to. They can choose to designate areas where minors are not allowed, or areas where minors can only enter if they are with a parent or guardian. This helps to keep minors safe and ensures that alcohol is sold responsibly.

The licensing authority has a few options to choose from, including designating areas where minors are not allowed, and areas where minors can enter if they are with a parent or guardian. They can apply these rules to the whole premises or just to certain parts of it.
