Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012

Sale and supply of alcohol generally - Management of licensed premises - Manager's certificates

218: Manager must hold prescribed qualification

You could also call this:

"Bar managers must have a special licence to sell alcohol, which they get by doing a training course."

To get a manager's certificate, you must have a special qualification. This qualification is decided by regulations made under the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012. You can get this qualification by completing a training course with requirements set by these regulations.

The people who give out manager's certificates, like the licensing authority or a licensing committee, cannot give you a certificate unless you have this qualification. They also cannot renew your certificate if you do not have it. You can find more information about this by looking at s 117A.
