Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012

Sale and supply of alcohol generally - Licensing bodies - Alcohol Regulatory and Licensing Authority

171: Powers of licensing authority

You could also call this:

"What powers the people in charge of alcohol licences have to do their job."

The licensing authority has powers given to it by the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 or other laws. You can think of these powers like tools that help the authority do its job properly. The authority also has any other powers it needs to work well.

The licensing authority's powers are not just limited to what is written in the Act, but also include powers from other laws, such as the one you can find at s 92. This means the authority can make decisions and take actions to carry out its responsibilities. You can look at the link to learn more about the related law.
