Resource Management Act 1991

Schedule 1AA: Incorporation of documents by reference in national environmental standards, national policy statements, and New Zealand coastal policy statements

You could also call this:

“Rules for including outside information in national environmental policies”

This part of the law talks about how certain documents can be included in national environmental standards, national policy statements, and New Zealand coastal policy statements. You can include things like international standards, practices from other countries, or other technical information that’s too big to print in the main document.

When these documents are included, they become part of the law. The documents can be changed or updated, but this only counts if the Minister publishes a notice about it. The Ministry for the Environment has to keep a correct copy of all the included documents and make them available for people to see.

The Ministry also has to make sure everyone can access these documents. They need to have them available for people to look at in their offices, sell copies, and maybe even put them online. They have to tell people where to find these documents and how to get copies. If the documents aren’t in English or te reo Māori, they need to provide a translation too.
