217CA: When this Part ceases to apply

You could also call this:

"When the law stops applying to an area in New Zealand"

The Governor-General can change an Order in Council to stop this Part of the law from applying to a certain area in New Zealand. You can find out more about how this Order in Council was made by looking at section 217C. The Governor-General can also decide when this Part of the law will stop applying to that area.

Before the Minister recommends making this change, they must be sure that the rules are no longer needed in that area. The Minister must also talk to the Minister of Agriculture about it.

The Minister and the Governor-General follow certain rules when making these decisions, and you can learn more about these rules by reading Part 3 of the Legislation Act 2019.
