432: Obligation to prepare regional policy statements and coastal plans within 2 years

First, within two years after this law starts, you must tell everyone about a proposed regional policy statement for your area. If you do the first task on time, you won’t be breaking the rules in section 60 or section 64 during the time between when this law starts and when your policy statement or plan becomes official.

432Obligation to prepare regional policy statements and coastal plans within 2 years

  1. Every regional council shall, in accordance with this Act and within 2 years after the date of commencement of this Act, publicly notify a proposed regional policy statement for its region.

  2. Every regional council shall, in accordance with this Act, publicly notify, by 1 July 1994, a proposed regional coastal plan or plans for its region.

  3. A regional council that complies with subsection (1) shall not be in breach of section 60 or section 64, as the case may be, during the period from the date of commencement of this Act until the policy statement or plan becomes operative.
