28A: Regional council must supply information to Minister of Conservation
or “The regional council must give the Minister of Conservation information about coastal matters when asked.”

You could also call this:

“The Minister of Aquaculture has special jobs to help manage fish farming in the sea.”

The Minister of Aquaculture has four main jobs under this law. You can think of these as special powers they have to manage aquaculture in New Zealand’s coastal areas.

First, the Minister can pause new applications for permits to do aquaculture activities in the sea. This is done under section 165ZD.

Second, the Minister can tell people to process and listen to applications for sea farming permits all at once. This is done under section 165ZFA.

Third, the Minister can suggest making new rules that change regional coastal plans for sea farming activities. These suggestions are made under sections 360A to 360C.

Lastly, the Minister can decide who gets permission to do certain things in the sea, but only when a regional plan says the Minister should make these decisions. This happens because of changes made to the regional plan by rules under section 360A.
