Resource Management Act 1991

Interpretation and application

2AB: Meaning of public notice

You could also call this:

“This explains how someone must tell everyone about something important by putting it on the internet and in newspapers.”

When you need to give a public notice about something under this Act, you must do two things:

First, you need to put a notice on a website that everyone can access for free. This online notice must have all the required information and follow any set format.

Second, you need to publish a short summary of the notice in one or more newspapers. These newspapers should cover the whole area that might be affected by what the notice is about. The summary should also tell people where they can find the full notice online.

Both the full notice on the website and the short summary in the newspaper need to be written in a clear and easy-to-understand way.
