If you apply for a resource consent that involves exchanging recreation reserve land, there are some special rules about when your consent starts. The consent authority (like your local council) will tell you when they’ve finished the procedures set out in sections 15 and 15AA of the Reserves Act 1977. These procedures are about exchanging the recreation reserve land.

Your resource consent will start either on the day the consent authority tells you they’ve finished these procedures, or on a later date if they specify one. This means you can’t start using your resource consent until the land exchange process is complete and the consent authority gives you the go-ahead.
